Papua New Guinea is a predominantly Christian country. National ministries host weekly prayer meetings, schools often teach faith-based courses, and members of parliament provide grants for Christian organizations. In recent years, Prime Minister James Marape appealed to define the country as Christian, but this was met with backlash as many were afraid it infringed on the constitution's provision for religious freedom.
A majority of the transportation infrastructure in Papua New Guinea is in the northern region between two major coastal towns and major urban cities in the mountainous region. Much travel is done by boat, especially in the most northern part of Papua New Guinea on the Sepik river. There is no official company that runs coastal transportation, so you must rely on hiring a motorized canoe or trading boat to bring you from town to town. Roads connect the urban cities, but there are few roads available between the provinces.
